Auditions for the 2009 color guard section of The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps continue this weekend. Due to chances of inclement weather, the location has been moved to the First United Methodist Church of Gilbert on Saturday, and Arizona State University PE East building on Sunday. This Sunday, The Academy completed its second consecutive weekend of its annual clinic/auditions for the 2009 corps. Participants were treated to another 14 hours of solid instruction and an inside look into The Academy’s rehearsal techniques. This weekend featured opportunities for new and returning brass and percussion applicants to audition. The color guard auditions will continue on January 3-4.

Deadline has been extended to February 1, 2009. You’re invited to be a part of the golf action at the FBR Open’s Birdies for Charity Program. Don’t worry; you don’t need to be much of a golfer, or even a golf fan for that matter, to participate in the Birdies for Charity Program. In addition, you have a chance to win a 2009 Buick along with 100 other great prizes just for participating! At the Open House on Saturday, December 13th, Executive Director Mark Richardson announced the team of educators that have been chosen to teach the visual program for the 2009 Corps. Returning will be Caption Head Matt Ray and instructor Matt Stout. New to the staff will be Ben Henderson, Bill Fritz, and Casey Ehrler. Jaime Holly will be serving as Visual Caption Consultant.
