Consultants Added to Brass Team in 2018

We are excited to announce two additions to the Brass educational team for The Academy in 2018.  Joining newly placed Brass Caption Head Ben Hylton will be Consultants John Meehan and Kevin Ronan.  We look forward to the coming season in great anticipation, with audition events across the country beginning in November.  Look for updates in the coming weeks on the remaining brass staff and audition opportunities in your area.    John Meehan - Brass Consultant John Meehan is excited to join The Academy brass staff, and looks forward to his time working with caption head Ben Hylton, and the entire brass program. Lead Staff In Place for the 2018 Season

The Academy is in the midst of preparing for what is sure to be another stellar season for the corps.  The first step of assembling the primary leadership within the design team and instructional staff is now complete.  We are excited to introduce this core group of new and returning talent to The Academy for 2018.  Next comes the assembly of the multitude of other designers and instructors that work within the various captions.  Look for those announcements in the coming weeks. 2017 By a Hare Uniforms/Costumes for Sale!

2017 was a special year for The Academy.  Debuting the new partnership with Fruhauf uniforms was just one of the highlights.  The production "By a Hare" received incredible acclaim, and much had to do with the costuming of the corps.  As the corps begins designing for another incredible year, so does designing a look to achieve that design. NOW AVAILABLE for purchase are the used uniforms from the 2017 season.  The corps-proper uniforms are the first edition of the new Academy Series made by Fruhauf Uniforms.  Available are the 134 red coat version, which the brass and drumline wore.  Also available are the 21 grey version uniforms that were worn by the musicians in the front ensemble.  Each set includes the coat, bib pants, leggins, shirt, and cuffs that make up the complete uniform.  Top hats are currently being offered for sale on an individual basis although many are left...

The Academy Alumni Association 2017 May RE(cap)

Happy May! This past weekend, the Academy got the whole gang back together for the April camp!  It was great to see the percussion and color guard sections rejoin the brass to make some great progress on the 2017 production!   The brass section had a nice performance at Music Under the Stars and all sections of the drum corps were showcased well at the Meet the Academy event.  The attendees of the Meet the Academy event got a sneak peek of the new uniforms and were introduced to the 2017 production design. We were also joined on Sunday by both our guard and percussion trainee groups.  It was overall an extremely productive weekend for The Academy! The Academy Alumni Association 2017 April RE(cap)

Happy April! This past weekend was a very productive camp for the brass section as they worked with members of the design team!  They focused on music with Michael Klesch and worked on drill and movement with Jaime Holly and Chris Velez.  These members and staff are working hard to put a great production on the field for 2017! This past weekend was also the final competitive performance for 2017 The Academy Winter Youth Guard.  They performed their show “Slow Down” and earned a record high score for the team!  Be sure to look for these hard working kids in The Academy Summer Youth Guard! Hello Alumni! Our favorite drum corps just finished another productive camp weekend with the brass!  They began learning drill for the intro of the 2017 production and spent Sunday afternoon adding music to the drill.  It is already looking and sounding great! Happy February! Our 2017 Academy Drum Corps just finished another successful camp with the brass and percussion sections!  They continued learning more of the 2017 production and are already making great progress as a music ensemble! Happy New Year Alumni! The 2017 edition of The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps is shaping up to be a great one!  We had nearly 300 members, callbacks and trainees attend the January camp, and they are already working hard to put together an excellent production for 2017!
