Happy April! This past weekend was a very productive camp for the brass section as they worked with members of the design team!  They focused on music with Michael Klesch and worked on drill and movement with Jaime Holly and Chris Velez.  These members and staff are working hard to put a great production on the field for 2017! This past weekend was also the final competitive performance for 2017 The Academy Winter Youth Guard.  They performed their show “Slow Down” and earned a record high score for the team!  Be sure to look for these hard working kids in The Academy Summer Youth Guard! Dear friends, 2016 was a very special year for The Academy. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the hundreds of people who have donated, volunteered, cheered and supported us throughout the years.  We now have a success problem—it is no longer feasible for us to operate from people’s houses. It may surprise you that for over 16 years we have been operating out of the homes of our staff and volunteers! We need office, warehouse and vehicle storage space. Please help us realize this goal: to give our organization a place to efficiently meet, plan and work toward continued growth and success. UPDATE - WE HAVE FOUND A HOME!  As of December 1, we have secured a location for...

Southern California Remote Evaluation Event

Southern California Color Guard performers…. Coming to your area is The Academy’s Remote Evaluation Event on Sunday, November 6th. New this Fall, The Academy will be hosting four remote evaluation events in Southern California, Houston, Dallas, and South Florida.   These sessions are designed to allow prospective members who reside a large distance away to “test drive” The Academy before investing in the travel expense to attend auditions.  Here, students will be exposed to instructional sessions with members of The Academy staff, where they can learn more about the specifics of The Academy techniques and membership expectations.  This offers the chance for prospective members to understand how to better prepare for the Audition Camps that follow just a few weeks later.  During the session, individuals who are interested in auditioning for the 2017 corps will be interviewed one-on-one with a staff member and have the prospect of being elevated to “Callback”…
